Job Description:
Description: The Student Administrative Assistant will support and assist South Asia Program (SAP) staff and assist with administrative functions of the SAP office. Previous relevant work experience required. The candidate will assist with special projects, do research, keep accurate records, and act as a receptionist. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are necessary. Must be able to work with a variety of people and meet deadlines. The basic duties and responsibilities of the position include:
• Updating and editing weekly electronic newsletter
• Distributing event information via digital platforms
• Assisting with set-up and break-down of SAP events
• Maintaining and constructing databases, listservs, and mailing lists
• Developing and maintaining website content, including web-based course lists
• Posting and tracking social media (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) content
• Assisting in recording SAP virtual events, editing excerpts, and preparing for distribution
• Collecting and submitting data for reports to the Einaudi Center and the U. S. Department of Education
• Revising publicity materials for a variety of electronic formats and delivery methods
• Preparing posters for weekly seminars and their distribution via campus mail
• Tracking graduated students who minored in South Asian studies
• Assisting with file re-organization
• May be asked to work on occasional evenings and weekends to assist with special events
• General office duties as requested.
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:
Graduate student will have organizational and prioritizing skills, a pleasant attitude and be self-motivated, able to complete tasks in a timely manner. Good typing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) are required. Webpage design, database management, social media, and InDesign experience preferred. Projects are deadline-driven, so the student assistant must possess excellent time management skills and a respect for deadlines.

The student must be able to work in a busy environment, meet deadlines, and have excellent attendance. Good judgment of information transmitted via electronic media is essential. Proven ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple priorities. Work hours are negotiable.
